Who are Lions

Welcome to Lions District 24-L!

Our District covers the northeast area of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Why should I be a Lion? What is it that makes people around the world choose to join Lions clubs when there are so many organizations competing for their time and energy?

Lions Clubs International conducted a global survey of nearly 8,000 members in 134 nations. By a wide margin, the primary reason members gave for joining Lions is “to serve my community.”

Lions are people who are successful because of their drive, intelligence, and ambition and who put their talents to work improving their communities. With more than 1.35 million members in more than 200 nations, Lions have created the world’s largest service club organization.

Why should you be a Lion? To work together with people who are passionate about helping others.

How do I become a Lion? The first step to becoming a Lion is to choose a club and meet the members. Most of the time, those who are already Lions extend invitations to those interested in membership.

The next step is to attend an Informational Session with a group or an individual Lion. If what you learn interests you, complete an application.

Once approved, you will be inducted into a club.

Then the choices are yours. You can attend meetings, volunteer for service projects, assist with fundraising, do administrative tasks, and pursue leadership roles.
