Students compete by creating posters and writing essays.

For over three decades, Lions clubs around the globe have been sponsoring a very special art contest in schools and youth groups. Creating peace posters gives children the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity.

International Peace Essay:

This contest was created to give visually-impaired young people an opportunity to express their feelings about peace. Lions work with local schools and area families to identify young people who are interested in participating and who could benefit from this program. One grand prize winner receives an award and $5,000.

July 2025 -- By Lion Jeff Root, 24-L Peace Poster/Essay Chairperson -- The theme for the 2025-2026 contests is “Together As One.” 24-L will sponsor both contests. Students ages 11-13 as of November 15, 2025 are eligible to participate. The deadline to order Peace Poster/Essay Kits is October 1. To order, go to: Paper format or Digital format It is not too late to contact middle school art teachers and teachers of visually-impaired students.
