Young People Express their Feelings about Peace
Students compete by creating posters and writing essays.
Peace Contests:
For nearly four decades, the Lions International Peace Poster Contest has given children ages 11-13 the opportunity to share what peace means to them through art. Each year, Lions Clubs around the world sponsor the contest in schools and organized youth groups, giving young people the opportunity to be recognized at local and international levels, and awarded a grand prize of $5,000 for their creativity in sharing their vision of the current year’s theme.
This year's theme is Harmony in Humanity.
When we treat each other with respect and kindness, peace can flourish. This year, we invite young people to imagine a world where people of every culture and background live together peacefully — celebrating differences, finding common ground, and creating true harmony in humanity.
For the first time, this year we will have a Peace Essay and Peace Poster Contest at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton.

International Peace Poster:
For over three decades, Lions clubs around the globe have been sponsoring a very special art contest in schools and youth groups. Creating peace posters gives children the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity.

International Peace Essay:
This contest was created to give visually-impaired young people an opportunity to express their feelings about peace. Lions work with local schools and area families to identify young people who are interested in participating and who could benefit from this program. One grand prize winner receives an award and $5,000.
