Changing Lives with Dogs

Enhancing the lives of people with disabilities.

About Us:

Canine CompanionsCanine Companions Logo provides highly-trained assistance dogs, free of charge. Founded in 1975, the organization breeds, raises, and trains Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and mixes of the two to help individuals with physical, cognitive, and developmental challenges. These dogs assist with daily tasks such as opening doors, picking up dropped items, and even alerting to important sounds. In addition to service dogs, Canine Companions also trains facility dogs that work alongside professionals in healthcare, education, and law enforcement. The organization is known for its rigorous training standards and lifelong support for both the dogs and their recipients, helping to foster greater independence and confidence for those they serve.
