Northern VA Lions Youth Camp

The Northern VA Lions Youth Camp will hold its annual spring Earth Day Cleanup on Saturday, April, 25, 2026 at the youth camp, rain or shine, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The purpose of this event is to:

Increase awareness of our responsibilities to protect our air, water, and climate.
Emphasize the role of communities in strengthening environmental protections, fostering climate stability, and demanding accountability for a sustainable future.
Provide an opportunity to Lions clubs and community organizations to help improve the roads, buildings, and outdoor facilities of the youth camp

Lunch will be provided for volunteers. Please bring your gloves, boots, insect spray and tools (rakes, shovels, brooms, etc.) to clean cabins and clear roads, ditches, encroaching shrubs, fallen branches, etc.

RSVP by April 15 to Camp President Ken Marr.

Canine Companions: In February, Lion Shea Megale of the Clifton Lions Club graduated with her third Canine Companions service dog, Luau. The graduation occurred at the Canine Companions Northeast Region in Medford, Long Island, NY and was part of the simultaneous nationwide graduation at all six Canine Companions campuses where 76 service dogs graduated. The next graduation will be in May.

Lunch for graduates and families was provided by the Lions Project for Canine Companions (LPCC) foundation in honor of Shea's service as past President of LPCC.

Stamps for the Wounded -- By Lion Mary Propst

Who We Serve -- Our wounded and ill service men and women who are in and outpatients at the Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals and domiciliary located across the country. These people have served in the U.S. Military in foreign wars as far back as WWII extending to the most resent actions.

Why We Do It -- Many wounded veterans find great enjoyment in stamp collecting. Thanks to Lions and many devoted volunteers, this postage stamp program gives hospital and wheelchair-bound vets something to do, and something to look forward to. Trading duplicates also connects them with other collectors.

How to Get Involved -- Recycle stamps from your own mail. Keep the stamp on the envelope. Cut around it leaving about a 1/2- inch border around the perforations. This is such a simple and easy way to give back to the servicemen and women who have given so much. For more information, contact me at mary.propst@comcast.net
